Kaplankaya is a stretch of rocky headlands and small coves on the far shore of the bay from Bodrum, inside the Milas district. Six Senses opened here on 1 May 2018 and the villas around the resort are privately owned. Look north across the water from the Bodrum peninsula and the coastline you see is Kaplankaya. It is reached by a winding road through old olive groves and cypresses, which is exactly why it feels removed from Bodrum’s summer traffic. Administratively it belongs to Milas, not Bodrum — worth knowing when you read the title deed.
The estate was first opened as Canyon Ranch Kaplankaya, which closed in 2017 after less than a year; Six Senses took it over and reopened it on 1 May 2018. Today the resort has 141 rooms and six suites, plus 66 Ridge Villas set into the rock above the sea. The wellness centre — the reason most guests come — covers 10,000 m².
Ownership here is really about access to the resort. Residents use the 10,000 m² Six Senses Spa and wellness centre with its hydrothermal areas and indoor heated pools, the private white-sand beaches, the restaurants, the fitness and water-sports centres, tennis courts and the hiking trails through the headland. Security runs 24 hours, buggies move you around the estate, and a concierge handles the rest.
A three-bedroom, three-bathroom villa with 175 m² of covered living space on an 800 m² private garden. High ceilings and solid wood floors inside; a large sitting room with an open fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. Sliding glass doors open from both the double-height living area and the shaded dining terrace onto the pool and garden. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, its own door to the outside and a sea view; the master bathroom has a separate tub and shower.
Outside: a private pool, two shaded terraces and a sun terrace in the upper garden. The garden gives direct access to the beach, and the villa has a shaded parking space. It is sold fully furnished, and the furniture was chosen to meet the standards of the official Six Senses rental programme — relevant if you intend to let it when you are not there.
